The congregation of Faith Baptist Church surprised their pastor’s wife with a birthday party following the evening service on July 4!  Sister Moore’s eyes were filled with amazement as she entered the fellowship hall and heard “Happy Birthday” shouted!  Ice cream and cake were served, following giving of presents.  This was no small accomplishment, because it is difficult task to “pull one over” on Sister Moore!  Special thanks to the church folk for a job well done!  We love you all!

The morning of June 25th was an exciting time at FBC.  We hosted Pastor’s Fellowship with many Pastors and FBC friends supporting the event.  With the Ladies putting together an extensive feast all were fed physically and good Preaching from Bro David Towler, Bro Clint Conner and others all were fed spititually.

Sunday, June 6, will be a special day at the Faith Baptist Church.  We will honor three young ladies who have reached an awesome pinnacle in their lives:  graduation!  Join us for this special service and pray for the following young ladies:  Jackie Bryant, Vickie Gray and Hollie Huff.  The ladies fellowship will be providing a luncheon after the morning service.  Our friends are certainly invited!

Friends are invited to attend our Prophetical Bible Conference March 31 through April 2 at 7 p.m. and April 3 at 6 p.m.  Dr. Billy Martin from Kernersville, NC, will be preaching nightly on the subject of Biblical prophecy.  Since our last Presidential election, there has been a renewal of interest in this aspect of Bible study.  Dr. Martin has received his training at Piedmont Baptist College, Winston-Salem, NC, Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC, and Elon College, Elon, NC.  He has served the Lord in the pastorate, evangelism and foreign mission work.  Pray for the Lord to minister to hearts.

Faith Baptist Church has been involved for the last three weeks in a seven-week effort to reach souls for Christ.  Our people have worked so hard, and the Lord has blessed their efforts.  We have been encouraged by having visitors in all our services for the last three Sundays.  I have been preaching and drawing a series on “The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit.”  Pray with us that we might see someone saved!

Sunday night, March 20, was a special surprise!  We honored two of our faithful ladies who have birthdays within two days of one another.  Mrs. Estelle Parsons celebrated her 98th year upon this earth on March 21!  The Lord has blessed Sister Parsons with good health and strength.  She is an encouragement to all around her; she is always faithful to the House of the Lord.  We also honored Mrs. Teresa Barber, our church pianist, who has faithfully served the Lord at Faith Baptist Church for over 40 years.  These ladies were genuinely surprised with a party that evening.  Praise the Lord for another day to bless the name of the Lord.  The Psalmist wrote:  “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”  Jeremiah wrote in Lamentations that the mercies of the Lord are new every morning.  What a blessing to awaken to a new day with God’s breath in our lungs!

We did it again!  It seems that Baptists and food are like Siamese Twins!  In February we enjoyed a special Valentine’s Banquet.  Pastor and Mrs. Moore prepared a special dinner for the church folk, including a salad, baked spaghetti, garlic bread and dessert.  Bro. Daniel Church and his wife Holly were among our guests present.  Brother Church challenged everyone concerning love through the book of Ruth.  We played a modified version of the “Newlywed Game”, among other fun things.  Sister Moore beautifully decorated the fellowship hall, and (as the old adage goes) “a good time was had by all.”

We at FBC enjoyed a very different and unusual time of fellowship at our Christmas party.  We ate (what Baptists do quite well) a “Po Folks” dinner with a bean supper.  It was fun to play a “White Elephant Gift” game, using gag gifts.  But, our hearts were stirred by the spiritual food!  Dr. J. Haywood Alcorn preached a powerful message on the birth of Christ. The season is always blessed by family, gift giving, decorations, traditional song, etc., but “the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ” (Romans 6:23).  Truly He is the  reason for the season!
