Surprise Party!

Suprise Party! The congregation of Faith Baptist Church surprised their pastor’s wife with a birthday party following the evening service on July 4!  Sister Moore’s eyes were filled with amazement as she entered the fellowship hall and heard “Happy Birthday” shouted!  Ice cream and cake were served, following giving of presents.  This was no small accomplishment, because it is difficult task to “pull one over” on Sister Moore!  Special thanks to the church folk for a job well done!  We love you all!

Freedom Costs!

The Fourth of July approaches. As usual, Americans lose sight of what such occasions represent. We could have no freedom without the sacrifices of thousands of lives to protect our freedoms. We have freedom from sin through the sacrifice of our Savior Jesus Christ. As we should remember the brave soldiers who gave their lives so we can possess freedom, may we also remember our Savior Who died for us. May we never neglect the precious gift of eternal life only made possible through Him.

Pastor’s Fellowship

The morning of June 25th was an exciting time at FBC.  We hosted Pastor’s Fellowship with many Pastors and FBC friends supporting the event.  With the Ladies putting together an extensive feast all were fed physically and good Preaching from Bro David Towler, Bro Clint Conner and others all were fed spititually.

New Beginnings

We have made several posts of changes at FBC and about our new Pastor; well, today was “Get Acquainted Day”.   FBC set aside today as a way for the community and other Churches and Pastors to come together with us to meet Bro. Moore, our new Pastor.   After experiencing the day, it is like a mile stone;  a marker of sorts. The past is truly past, and now, we embark on a new future.

It has been said many times over the past months, “This is the first (place event here) without Preacher Poovey”, and there will be more first.    We, at FBC, are in a place to “arise” as the children of Israel were in Joshua’s day (Joshua 1:2).  Preacher Chad Branch brought this out today in such a very understanding way in the afternoon message. His text was from Joshua 1:1-15.  We should be posting that audio in the next few days so you can hear that message.

As we embark on this new course, we definitely see our new Pastor do things differently, but with the same end. KJV all the way, as Pastor Poovey preached for 43 years, and again as mentioned in today’s message, we will see changes, but will they be changes after all or just ways to strengthen on what was planted at FBC by Preacher Poovey.    God told Joshua in very plain language (Joshua 1:2) “Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.”    With Moses leadership, there was a lot of eventful experiences and times of learning, and then, Moses died, and Joshua was called as the leader to take the children of Israel into the (for those of you that know me as this “prolific writer”,  I cannot think of a better word) Promised Land (no other words COULD describe it better). We are promised a land flowing with milk and honey.

In so many ways, Faith Baptist Church just has so much to be anxious for.   The Children of Israel was not just handed all this on a silver platter.    God said, “Be strong and of a good courage” because the children of Israel didn’t just walk in and fall into hammocks, they had to take the land. We, too, at FBC will be “brethren armed”, we should “turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest”.    In so many ways Faith Baptist Church just has so much to be anxious for.

One last thing before we get to the pictures.   We have a few pictures from the day.

This may have been thought of before and discussed before, but my “oldtimers” sometimes makes me forget.    We have a new baby in our Church; his name was thought of long before the events of this year began, and I am sure that it was the direction of the Lord; maybe as a way for FBC to remember for years to come when we are well beyond these times.    This new baby here at FBC was named after the explorer that was with Joshua; who was one of the first to see the Promised Land. Who was that man that Moses sent in to spy out the Promised Land?   Caleb!    I’ll leave that for you to think on.

Now on to the pictures…
